Glasses are cheap. But not in Africa. It costs a minimum of half-a-month's salary for a simple pair of reading glasses. Every pair must be shipped into the city or savannah, at great cost.
So the AFRICAN EYES program collects used Rx glasses and dollar-store reading glasses, then ships them to Africa where trusted local leaders distribute the eyeglasses free of charge. |
